Green Hollow Bowmen is a LongBow only club which was affiliated to the British LongBow Society in 1996. The Club name is derived from the original name of Glasgow in Brythonic. Though a relatively young club it is flourishing as one would expect from devotees of "the bent stick". Their shooting ground is at Mugdock Country Park near Milngavie, Glasgow. Mugdock Country Park has a long association with the Graham family, and their most famous son, James Graham, 3rd Marquis of Montrose is reputed to have been born at Mugdock Castle, the ruins of which lie at the heart of the park.

He was himself no mean archer, twice winning the St Andrews Silver Arrow. Two of the Club trophies, the James Graham Prize Arrows are awarded to the winning Lady and Gentleman at the British LongBow Society Green Hollow Clout held at Mugdock Country Park in August each year.
Some meetings in the BLBS Scottish Clout Series are held at Mugdock, hosted by Green Hollow Bowmen by kind permission of the Park Director and the Countryside Ranger Service.
Shooting a two way clout at Mugdock is a memorable experience whether the weather be fair or foul. The club members shoot outdoors in most weather.

The Green Hollow Bowmen cater for both beginners and experienced longbow archers. New members are always welcome. Further enquiries should be directed to the Club Secretary at laura@mcbriens.net
